Space Odyssey is delighted to offer a range of planetarium presentations especially designed for community groups such as Womens' Institutes, Rotary Clubs, Social Clubs etc.
These dome experiences differ from Simon's school presentations in that their content is carefully adapted for the general public and allows much more time to explore the night skies as seen from around the world. Space Odyssey's incredible planetarium projection technology allows the audience to be transported around the globe to experience breathtaking night skies we never get to see from the UK!
It is recommended that each group be allowed at least an hour's session so they can enjoy a lengthy time in the dome as well as having the opportunity to ask Simon lots of questions afterwards! It is often possible to plan two or more sessions in a single evening, e.g. 6:00 - 7:15pm, 7:20 - 8:35pm, 8:40 - 9:55pm
The cost of these superb presentations is just £6 per adult and £4 for under-16's. A minimum fee will apply, which will depend on the distance to be travelled from Simon's home in Devon. The minimum fee will be in the range £250-£300 for bookings in the South West with an additional modest supplement further afield.
It is best to aim to arrange at least two sessions to ensure the minimum fee is covered. You may need to add an extra 50p or £1 to cover the hall hire (e.g. charging £7 per adult, £5 per child from which you deduct £1 a head for the hall hire and Simon receives £6/£4 accordingly).
One way of arranging an evening is to offer an earlier show for families (minimum recommended age 6) and a later show for adults/older children, e.g. 5:30 - 6:45pm for the family session, 7:15 - 8:30pm for the second presentation. This helps Simon to pitch the content most effectively for the different age groups.
